Hidden (lingual) braces
Lingual braces really are a secret
As a result of near-invisible methods of straightening teeth, orthodontic treatment is becoming increasingly popular – and hidden (lingual) are contributing to this.
What are hidden (lingual) braces?
Lingual braces look much the same as conventional metal braces, but for one thing. You can’t see them! That’s because, they are fitted to the back surface of your teeth.
Until recently, many patients may have been put off the idea of having their teeth straightened by the thought of wearing metal braces, but there is no need to worry about others seeing your braces if you’re fitted with lingual appliances.
At The Orthodontic Centre (Reading) Ltd, we use the WIN brand of lingual braces.
How do WIN lingual braces work?
These bespoke gold braces are superb appliances which combine excellent mechanics with vastly improved aesthetics. Using the same components as traditional braces – brackets and archwires – they are attached to the tongue side of your teeth, and apply gentle pressure to move your teeth into position.
Some patients do experience a little discomfort for the first seven to 10 days after fitting, but once this has passed the braces become much easier to cope with, and our patients have been delighted with the results.
